Every other Thursday, Jenny will be hosting the Thankful Thursday challenge and at the end of the month she chooses a winner! Join in on both challenges that month and you have two chances to win! I love the challenges on this site, because they really encourage spending time with family and loved ones while you're crafting, lots of fun!

If you haven't been to Crazy About Cricut yet, make sure you stop by to meet the new design team and visit all of their fabulous blogs!

Magnolia Mother's Day

This was such a fun card to make! I recently ordered some Magnolia stamps and I absolutely love these little characters! They're so cute and versatile and I'm looking forward to making a lot more projects with them. I also followed this awesome tutorial at Scrap Girl's website and I was able to color the skin and hair with some copic markers. Her tutorial is great, she tells you exactly which ones to get so I only had to buy 6 of the markers and I was able to get some great shadows with them. They're pretty expensive, although I can see why every one loves them so much! But for now, I might just stick with those few and then use my watercolor pencils to color the rest. I found some great polka dot embossed paper and then used three buttons with some bling on them to add some sparkle.

Last week at Cooking with Cricut, I won a Top Chef prize and got to choose a cutting file from Paper Crafting World and I chose their Raggedy Edge Rose which made these beautiful flowers! It was so fun to try a different flower than usual and I loved the result!

Challenges that inspired me:

Fantabulous - Mom's the word
Reasonable Ribbon - use purple and ribbon
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes
Stamp Something - Recipe: use flowers, buttons, and sparkle
The Paper Variety - dots
Mojo Monday - sketch
Cooking with Cricut - Spring flowers
Magnolia Stamp Lovers - use flowers
Magnolia-licious - Inspiration challenge #6
Papercraft Star - photo inspiration, the swirl circular lollipops and some of the colors
Card Makin Mamas - for a loved one

Hope you're having a great day!

Believe Feminine Card with Tim Holtz Rays folder and Smooch

Celebrate the Occasion has their weekly challenge up again and this time it is all about Mother's Day. My card is a little different than the usually sweet cards for Mom. I wanted to show how I 'get' that no matter how old you are you still have dreams and want them to come true. I want all my Mom's dreams to come true. She has been through a lot with/from me :)
I used my Sizzix Texture Embossing Purse- which I LOVE! I also used a Tim Hotlz Alterations Embossing Folder: Rays that I bought with Rayna at the scrapbook expo. purple Smooch for the dress. 4 of the stamps were Dawn Houser, and the flourish was by Rhonna Farrer. Tattered Angels Viva Pink made it shimmer and that is basically the jest of it. I do have a video tutorial uploading soon- but it has had a hard time processing. Just visit my Channel and it should be there soon.
Now go make your own Mother's Day card and link it up with Celebrate the Occasion this week. There are monthly goodies to be entered to win :)
Plus the design team ROCKS it!!
BTW: Have you seen Rayna's Awesome projects lately? She is ripping it up! I am left speechless by her amazing talent. Way to go Rayna!

Easter Bear

This card was inspired by my 5-year old friend Mimi and her bear Sammy in the blue bunny suit :) He was so cute, I had to recreate it for an Easter card. I also love this glitter paper by My Mind's Eye and the muted blue and yellow colors. This cute bear is from the Create a Critter cart and so are the little bunny ears. I embossed the background paper that he's on and inked it to really make the background stand out. The flowers in the corner with the pearls in the middle added some nice dimension too.

It's hard to see in the picture, but the bunny ears are also sparkly because of this awesome paper, so fun!

Here are the challenges that inspired me:
Paper Sundaes - choose 2 or more, sparkle, pearls, die cuts, yellow - I did all of them! :)
Cooking with Cricut - Easter
More than Favors - Easter
For Fun Challenges - Easter
Simon Says Stamp - emboss it
Crafty Creations - 1 technique (embossing), 2 embellishments, 3 patterned papers
Midnight Madness - Sketch challenge #100

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Celebrate the Occasion Challenge #10

For this week's challenge at Celebrate the Occasion the idea is to make a project with a birthday theme (use this sketch).

So here is what I created! I used some Close to my Heart paper called Groovy Blossoms that I've had forever and designed the card around the sketch. I used the cute little dalmatian from the Paisley cart and pieced him together and then the 'happy birthday' from Create a Critter.

I used stickles for the flower on the sidebar and for the little star on his chest just to make it sparkle. Then I used a brad and some fiber to make sort of a tag out of the flower and popped it up on a pop dot.

Make sure you join us this week at Celebrate the Occasion for this fun challenge! All you need to do is create a card, layout or project and post it by Sunday, April 24th, 11:59pm (EST). The winner will be selected and entered into their monthly drawing and they will be giving away a "SIMPLY SWEET" cricut cartridge for the month of April!!!

Challenges:
Cooking with Cricut - use something that has been in your stash for at least a year
Die Cuttin' Divas - "Tag" you're it
Crafty Creations - paper piecing
Birthday Sundaes - anything goes birthday
Card Makin' Mamas - spring colors

Cupcake Mice

I love this digital image by Designed 2 Delight! Such a fun little garden party scene! I experimented some more with the watercolor pencils and markers to shade my image. I used some of the Dreamy collection from My Mind's Eye, this paper is so great because the glitter is already on the cardstock!

After coloring my image, I used liquid glass for the centers of the flowers, rhinestones for the mice noses and cherry, and a black pearl for the little bee head. I liked how much dimension all these little details added!

Here are the challenges that inspired me:
Designed 2 Delight - use the image of the week
Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #99 - sketch
Scrapbookaholic by Abby - use orange and an animal
The Paper Variety - use flowers
For Fun Challenges - use any 3: pink, blue, purple, green, and yellow

Spring Tag

For my Celebrate the Occasion challenge this week, I thought it was supposed to be a tag :) But alas, it is supposed to have a punch on it. Luckily, I used one. The only shaped one I have aside from border punches is the Martha Stewart Circle punch. Martha has failed me in many other products she uses, but her punches have so far been great.
The tag was a RAK sent from Enastasia. I love the tags she sent me. I used My Mind's Eye Laundry Line Sun dress Admire, with Winding Vine paper. Shabby Shutters and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink by Time Holtz were used around my edges. I used a My Minds Eye rub on for the bird and a quote that says An Every Day Kind of Wonderful. So sweet. Then I decked it out with some Prima bling 'say it in crystals' a large button and a K&C bling. I threw on some trim and a Fancy Pants ribbon. Some tulle at the bottom flared out from the backside- like a dress :).

I have to say it is all a bit gaudy. :) My mom didn't like it. But I think it is adorable. :)
I would love to see your projects. Go to Celebrate the Occasion and enter. Pull out your old punches you never use and get going. You have one week to get them in. No cricut required :)
Here is the video tutorial

Hunting for Eggs

At my local scrapbook store they have a page kit of the month club where they give us each certain products and we're supposed to use pretty much only those products. It's fun to see what we can make, but it's also kind of limiting as far as the paper choices :) Here's what I came up with! I used the Forever Young cart to cut the circle and scalloped circle to make it look like a big flower.

I used some Close to my Heart stamps and stamped the eggs, then used glitter to bling them up a little bit!

Here are the challenges I entered with this layout:
Cricut Cardz Challenge - Easter project
Creative Cutter Room - blog hop, use the 4 required elements that each person gave

Hope you're having an awesome day!

April Rain

Well it's decided not to be spring in Utah yet...so this card is kind of a reminder to myself that it will get better! I just hope it's soon! But in the meantime, it's left me with lots of time to get crafting, so I decided to try something new. I used watercolor pencils and a Tombow blender pen to color this digital stamp from Designed 2 Delight. It was pretty fun and they were WAY less expensive than Copic markers which are still on my wish list! I used some of the My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary collection, because even though it's about a rainy day, the colors are still happy :)

I used the Walk in my Garden cricut cart for the flowers and then liquid glass to give a little shine to them and to the butterflies around the watering can.

So I needed to have a nice, uplifting sentiment for the inside of the card too :)

Here are the challenges that inspired me:
Mojo Monday - sketch
Fantabulous Cricut - April showers, project with umbrella or hat
Designed 2 Delight - watering can digital stamp
Cooking with Cricut - April showers
Crafty Creations - rain showers, challenge #113
The Paper Variety - April showers bring May flowers

Have a great day!

Celebrate the Occasion Challenge #8

This week at Celebrate the Occasion the challenge is to make a project with the theme anything birthday (must have a flower). For my card, I used some of the Stella Rose collection from My Mind's Eye - I just can't seem to get away from their stuff, they really do have the most beautiful paper! I cut out the birthday cake pieces and then used the corner rounder to make it look more like a cake. I used a fun EK Success border punch to cut out the side bar too!

I sprayed my prima flowers with electric blue and silver sugar glimmer mist and then added a pearl accent to the middle of each flower.

Then I embossed the candle and used stickles to add some shine to the flame.

Make sure you join us this week at Celebrate the Occasion for this fun challenge! All you need to do is create a card, layout or project and post it by Sunday, April 10th, 11:59pm (EST). The winner will be selected and entered into their monthly drawing and they will be giving away a "SIMPLY SWEET" cricut cartridge for the month of April!!!

Challenges:
Paper Sundaes - spring blossoms
Birthday Sundaes - anything goes birthday
All Sorts Challenge - Week #97, blooming blossoms
The Crazy Challenge - #61 just add flowers
More than Favors - birthday theme
Crazy About Cricut - birthday theme
