CTO Birthday Sketch

Welcome to another Celebrate the Occasion challenge! This week, we were given a great sketch and a birthday theme. So fun! I love sketches, they always bring out some great creativity and it's always fun to see how people interpret them! I used some beautiful My Mind's Eye paper, some great ribbon and lace trim, and a gorgeous Prima flower I found, and hopefully I achieved the elegant look I was going for.

You may notice that this picture is different from the one on the CTO site, but after I sent in the picture I noticed that the dragonfly charm had fallen off, so I tied it on and took another picture. He's not going anywhere now :)

Make sure you come and join us this week at Celebrate the Occasion for this fun challenge and to check out all the fabulous work from the rest of the awesome Design Team!! All you need to do is create a card, layout or other project and post it by Sunday, September 4th, 11:59pm (EST). The winner will be selected and entered into the drawing for the month!

CTO Cupcake Birthday

This week at Celebrate the Occasion, we're celebrating birthdays using an easel card! For this card, I used some My Mind's Eye paper from their Lime Twist collection. I used a new cricut cart I got called Art Philosophy and it coordinates with Close to My Heart stamps! It's so awesome! Right there on the stamp set, it tells you what size to cut the image on your cricut so the stamp will fit perfectly! I cut out a scalloped circle and regular circle from the same cart and then popped up the cupcake with some pop dots after using pink stickles on the frosting. So fun!

This little saying is perfect too :)

Back to school tags for backpacks

Paper Panther here, I will have 3 kids in school this year~! A 5th grader girl, a kindergarten boy, and a preschool girl. That just leaves me and the 2 year old- until the baby comes in January. I am hoping for many naps :) I have wanted to do this project for a few years, and having the Celebrate the Occasion challenge be a school one, I felt this is a perfect project. My 5th grader did not want anything 'not cool' so she chose shiny lips from the dcwv rock star pack. Then, since she is a ballerina, she put some fun ballet stickers on.
My preschooler is such a girly girl- I did not let her help since she would have chosen the entire scrapbook collection- I did let her pick her favorite princess stickers.
Kindergarten boy is a huge star wars fan and he picked his stuff out himself. I used the packaging of the creative imaginations star wars kit.

I used a tag and folded it in half. My ATG gun is awesome and holds the paper on like it was born there. But I will still laminate them for durability from weather and other kids. I left the back folded over and blank. I am going to write in their name and information and then velcro it closed. That way if the pack does get lost- it is all right there.
So, the back fold had to be decorated too :)
I hope you enter the CTO challenge this week also.

Ribbon Bookmark

Welcome again to Thankful Thursday at Crazy About Cricut! This week, we're making bookmarks! For this ribbon bookmark, I found a really great tutorial on Such Treasures. First, we need to start out with a ribbon that is 42 inches long. I found that pony beads have the right size opening, otherwise you can ruin your ribbon trying to make it fit through the smaller beads, like I did trying to squeeze some littler beads on :)

To start your bookmark you'll need:
* 42 inch long bargain ribbon, 1/4” wide, grosgrain or satin
* Pony beads (6 or 8 for each bookmark)
* Charm (1 for each bookmark)
* Darning needle (optional but very helpful)

First, thread the charm and put it in the middle. Knot the ribbon at the base of the charm. Put a double knot at about 1-1/2 inches down from the charm. Thread the pony beads and another big fancy bead onto both ribbon ends. (Using a darning needle helps.) Put another double knot under the pony beads. Then finally, trim the ends of the ribbon cleanly and on the diagonal for a great finished look. I also burned the ends of the ribbon so that they wouldn't fray.

To use this great bookmark, you slip it through the cover of your book between the two ribbons. Keep the charm at the top and the beads at the bottom. Then you just slide the beads up until it fits the size of your book and it stays in place! And you have instant jewelry for your book!

You'll want to make sure to head over to Crazy About Cricut and check out all the awesome Design Team projects and enter your family's project! You can enter to win an AMAZING prize pack from Post-It!! Have a wonderful day!

CTO Wish Upon a Star

This week at Celebrate the Occasion, our challenge is to make a project with the theme Kid's Birthday. I used paper from the Close to My Heart Zippidee collection and made this fun birthday card with a Disney theme. My whole family is full of huge Disney fans so I'm sure it won't be too hard to find someone to give this to in the near future :)

LinkI used a chipboard star in the sentiment and sponged it with Honey colored ink. I also strung some blue waxy flax through the buttons and added this great fuzzy trim also from Close to my Heart. It was a fun card to make using all these bright colors!

Make sure you come and join us this week at Celebrate the Occasion for this fun challenge and to check out all the fabulous work from the rest of the awesome Design Team!! All you need to do is create a card, layout or other project and post it by Sunday, August 7th, 11:59pm (EST). The winner will be selected and entered into the monthly drawing!
